The Burgess Shale is UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Yoho National Park, British Columbia, Canada. It is a priceless record of soft-bodied Cambrian marine organisms, one of very few sites in the world where specimens like this are preserved.
This site is intended to serve as an introduction to the fossils and formation of the Burgess Shale, its status as a World Heritage Site and the history of its conservation and discovery, planning a trip to the Burgess Shale and the Mountain Parks, and other places to visit and stay while you’re there.
