The Cave and Basin- Banff

The Cave and Basin

The Cave and Basin is one of Western Canada’s oldest historic sites. It marks the birthplace of the Canadian National Parks System. Although it is no longer open for swimming, it was once a major tourist attraction for those looking to restore themselves in the naturally emerald-coloured mineral water. Today it serves as a protected area for the endangered Banff Springs Sanil (you can look, but be careful not to touch). It is also the trail head for many beautiful, and fairly flat, hikes.
